Inclusion and SEND
OUR VISION AND INCLUSIVE APPROACH
At Stanley Park Infants’ School, inclusion is at the heart of everything we do. It is embedded in our daily practice and not an additional or bolt-on approach. We ensure every child feels valued, supported and able to succeed.
We achieve this through high expectations for all pupils and quality-first teaching in every classroom. Teaching is carefully adapted to meet individual needs, enabling all children to develop independence and resilience. We ensure full access to the curriculum and wider school life, within a culture that celebrates difference and promotes a strong sense of belonging.
We are also committed to supporting pupils eligible for Pupil Premium, using funding strategically to remove barriers to learning and ensure all pupils can thrive. For further information, please click here: Pupil-premium-information
SEND LEADERSHIP
The SENCo is Charlotte Wheatland, who oversees SEND provision, ensuring it is carefully planned, regularly reviewed and adapted to support pupils’ progress and wellbeing. She works closely with staff, families and external professionals. If you would like to discuss your child’s needs, please contact the school office to arrange a conversation with Mrs Wheatland.
WHAT IS SEND?
A child has SEND if they have a learning difficulty or disability that requires additional support to access learning. For more information please use the following link:
HOW WE SUPPORT PUPILS
We identify pupils’ needs early and put appropriate support in place promptly. This support is regularly reviewed and adapted to ensure each child is able to make progress and feel confident in their learning.
Most pupils’ needs are met through our ordinarily available provision, including high-quality teaching, targeted support and classroom adjustments.
Support may include small group or one-to-one interventions, access to specialist services such as Speech and Language Therapy or Occupational Therapy, and strategies to support communication, emotional wellbeing and learning skills.
Our focus is on enabling all pupils to make progress, feel included and engage positively in their learning.
WORKING WITH FAMILIES
We work in partnership with parents and carers by involving them in decision-making, providing regular updates, and working together to support each child.
