Welcome to Team Tigers!

Team Tigers is a Year One class with Miss Penny (class teacher) and Miss Jones (teaching assistant).

We have lots of fun in year one travelling back in time and learning about some very interesting people and places. We love to perform and during the year we will put on some fantastic productions such as our class assemblies and the Christmas show!

Our topics for the year are:
Colour and Pattern, Celebrations, Explorers, Learn and Grow, Time Travellers and Out and About.

Our P.E. lessons are on a Tuesday, please ensure your child's named P.E. kit is in school on this day.

Our library time is on Wednesday, your child will bring home a book from the school library which they will change regularly.

Please can your child come to school in tracksuit bottoms on a Monday and Thursday for our tennis, dance, multi-skills and music lessons.

Please practise the key words and phonemes which are stuck into your child's planner at the beginning of each week.

Home learning activities are set on Fridays and please return them by the following Wednesday, along with the homework folder.

Please remember to write a comment in your child's planner everyday about their daily reading.

For more information about what's happening each week please view the chit-chats.

Thank you for your on-going support.

We really enjoy carrying out science experiments! We have tested gloves to see which would be best to use in the Arctic as an explorer. We have been archaeologists digging in the sand for precious stones, gems and fossils. During book week we tested different shoes to see which were the most waterproof and it was wellies just like Alfie's in the story by Shirley Clarke.  Mixing bicarbonate of soda and vinegar so brilliant, it exploded just like a volcano.

As a class we have been working on making two digit numbers in lots of different ways. We have used arrow cards, tens frames, straws and deines. Our talk for maths STEM sentence has been ?? is made up of ?? and ?

for example 23 is made up of 20 and 3.
